The Catskills:  A Sense of Place series of curriculum guides on the Catskill Mountain Region, this five module resource helps teachers enliven and enrich their lessons. The emphasis of hands-on learning and process skills makes the guides useful for any teacher who would like to address NYS Learning Standards, listed with each activity. The lessons are designed to fit school curricula. The modules span grade levels 3-12, so students can benefit from these engaging, place-based studies over a period of years.

The Imagination Factory – teach children and their caregivers creative ways to recycle by making art. The lessons and activities include drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, papier-mache, marbling, and crafts.

The tenth annual Esopus Bend Nature Preserve Winter Bird Count was conducted on Saturday, January 10, 2015, under relatively good count conditions.  A total of 613 individuals representing 38 species were recorded during a ten-hour effort that included a 1.5 hours of pre-dawn “owling”.
